Don't Miss
Your Flash of
Insight!
This Key-Mail is
dedicated in gratitude for the
light and life of Kaylene Smith.
I am often asked, "How will I
know when I'm supposed to..."
Moments of clarity often come as
a brilliant momentary
flash, much like a perfect
falling star. Rather than
insignificant coincidences,
they are nothing less than the
heavens aligning to offer us a
gift.
I've seen it happen so
many times. We ask for
understanding, for courage, or
for guidance, and when we least
expect it, it comes in the form
of a word from a stranger, a
line in a film, or the lyrics to
a song.
If we have not been
trained to keep a watchful eye
and honor them when they arrive,
we can miss them, or worse yet
dis-miss them. So, our only job,
is to strengthen our belief in
the connection of the
commonplace to the celestial.
When we practice knowing that
every time we ask we receive,
and every time we knock doors
are opened, we become like
little children waiting for the
fireworks to start.
The alternative is to treat life
as though there were no magic,
no miracles, no magnificent
manifestations. Through these
eyes, life becomes small and
we find ourselves marking off
the days until payday.
How I Write My Songs
The song I wrote that was
played on Dr. Phil
earlier this year was a
great example of a flash of
insight. Had I not called
the song into my phone's
voice message
system the minute it came to
me, (okay, 10 minutes) it
would have been gone.
My friend, Kaylene, was like
that. She would call me with
amazing insights as she was
driving to a talk or right after
working with a coaching client.
I am so grateful for our
14-year friendship and shall
miss her dearly.
There is greatness in each of
us, and sometimes it takes the
sky lighting up in our darkest
night for us to see it. So, be
on the lookout, Dear Ones. Every
quest-ion will be answered for
you. And when it does, do as
these simple lyrics suggest...
"Catch a falling star and
put it in your pocket, save it
for a rainy day.
Catch a falling star and put it
in your pocket,
never let it fade away..."

"We can

but until we

Educ8tor of the Month
Amy Krance
Amy Krance was a principal
for 7 years when she took a
huge risk. "I missed the
daily contact and
relationship building with
the kids," she says, "so I
went back into the
classroom."
Today Amy follows her heart
at Grand Island Central
Catholic where she teaches
8 to Great in her
Religion classes and directs
the school musical. On her
free weekends she is a
Master Trainer of the 8
to Great program around
the midwest.
How has the program impacted
Amy's personal life? "I had
to use all 8 High-Ways to
lose 45 pounds this
year. If I had tried to
leave any one of them out of
my life, there's no way I
could have done it! For
example, I keep my dream
posted on my board above my
computer so it's always in
my sight!"
Meanwhile, not only has 8 to
Great changed her life, but
she has used it for two
years to change students'
lives.
"One of my favorite success
stories was when I had the
freshmen take a risk toward
one of their dreams as a
weekend assignment.
One girl found out what she
has to do to qualify for the
Olympic softball team, 2
another found out when and
where Disney holds auditions
for their theme-park
characters, one boy had a
conversation with his dad
about being a father since
that's his dream, and
another one finding online
publishers for their stories
to be published. One
girl even enrolled in a
physical onditioning program
to further her dream of
playing volleyball for the
Huskers!"
We are so proud to have
teachers like Amy sharing
this powerful process with
students each year.
Congratulations, Amy!

for MK's new

8

"...Over the years I've
read and listened to many
of the authors that you
quote in this book -- Ziglar,
Robbins, Dyer, Waitley,
Hill, Canfield, and on and
on--and finally, now, I have
something that I can
actually use... something
that will let me practice
these concepts daily to hone
them into a newer ME. God
bless you, MK!"
"MK, In my view, you are
already in the history books
