  • Greetings, Gratefuls!
The other day I wondered if I was feeling so glorious because of the beautiful spring or if the beautiful spring was because I was feeling so glorious! In the one-ness that is life, it is all connected, isn't it?

This Key-Mail, I've asked my writing assistant, the beautiful and talented Tessa V. Wedberg, to tell you how these concepts have shaped her life in the year and a half she and I have worked together.

I love the story of how I found her: I placed three ads in the paper that year. I go at quite a pace and the first two writing assistants I hired told me they "just couldn't keep up." I was grateful for them anyway, and would just run the ad again. The third time, the first resume I read was Tessa's. With her journalism background and the fact that she had worked on film crews (think high maintenance!) she was a shoe-in.

The part that I loved most about her interview was when she pulled out a little slip of paper and showed me the first ad I had run for the position 8 months earlier! "I knew this was the perfect job for me," she shared, "but I was in the middle of a project and didn't want to let the person I was working with down. I've had this in my billfold ever since."

Isn't life amazing? What we are looking for is looking for us in every instance! I am so grateful for that. I am so grateful for you, joining in the excitement of it all. You and I are ONE with all that is, and it is ALL GOOD!

    Blissings,
    MK

    Tessa's Terrific Story

    1) How did you look at (think about) "self-help" books before you met MK?

Honestly, I didn't really consider the genre. I assumed it was reams of recycled material that wouldn't resonate with me at all. I never considered this particular brand of literature, not realizing that the scope of self-help included books like The Celesting Prophecy and The Road Less Traveled.

    2) When you first started to edit MK's new book, Live the Life You've Imagined, what resonated with you as true?

It is interesting because I began reading MK's new book a year and a half ago and as I file back in my mind, I remember being shocked by the fact that I was becoming absorbed in the material as I edited. What immediately struck me as I turned its pages was the decision-making formula. Years before, a woman had told me that when I became fearless, I would be able to accomplish anything. At that time, I dismissed her statement. As I read MKs, "If you had no fear, what would you do" formula, I realized that the way this question is posed allows you to wrap your mind around the concept. It makes it a tangible possibility.

    3) Tell us the story of how you got your latest movie...

In the film and writing industries, it is often feast or famine. One door had unexpectedly closed on a book project I had been working on, and I was feeling anxious and in a bit of shock. When I came into work that day MK and I talked about the fact that just as the last project had appeared from thin air, so could future projects. With renewed hope I took a RISK that evening and sent off a couple of resumes for film projects.

Two days later I got a call about editing a new book and happily accepted. The following day I got a call about working on a film. I was over the moon. Again, I accepted. About an hour after the euphoria wore off I realized that I had an extremely limited amount of time to properly prepare for the film and edit the book. As far as problems go, it was not a bad one to have.

    4) What other concepts from MKs new book do you use/tell others about the most?

I probably share the concept surrounding forgiveness (They were doing the best they could at the time with the information they had) and the feelings/health connection the most. I also think that being grateful for the little things and taking full responsibility for our lives is crucial.

    5) What makes her new book unique?

Unlike many self-help books, it can be digested by everyone - not those with elite intellects only. Teens are even a potentially wonderful audience for this material. I am thrilled to have been a small part of this machine that will lift MK's material to new heights and give it the exposure it greatly deserves. MK's new book is a labor of love. Every man, woman and child she has met and inspired over the last decade served as her muse when writing this book. I have been privileged to be much more than just an editor, serving perhaps more as midwife. I will so proud when this labor is over and our baby is born and bringing new insights and delights to the world!

What You Do Isn't What You Do

It's like the title says, "What You Do" isn't what you do.

I get to speak to all professions. In the past month I've spoken to Insurance Underwriters (Hi guys!!!) and Human Resource Managers (Hey to the South Dakota Gang!) and Bus Drivers (Go Yellllllloooooowwwww) and Bankers (How are my Square Dancers?) and Educators (You are My Campus for Hope). Their job titles didn't matter, I could tell what they really did.

Each of us decide every day what we will do. Some of us choose to unite and some to divide. Because there are really only two forces on the planet - the force that brings us together as one in love and the force that pulls us apart in fear. Some people (most, actually) are spreading "The Force" that unites and it's glorious to watch.

Like Drew the banker who just moved to this country. He is delighted to be in the US of A and shares in his beautiful Brit accent that we are "calmer and friendlier here." And Dan the HR guy who reached out to a woman who wanted to understand her husband's behavior even though he was on vacation at a conference.

And then there was David the underwriter with a clear vision of what "could" be, and Suzanne the elementary principal who loves to read hopeful stories aloud to her elementary faculty like "The Empty Pot."

Yup, let's face it. Their real job title is "lover." So why not write their real job description? It could go something like, "Brings light wherever they go with their optimism and joy. Reminds everyone they meet that they are loveable and loved. Brings people together in heart and mind by being so darn together themselves..." What fun!

Now let's write the policies and procedures manual:
    - have fun
    - share the joy
    - see beyond

So, what I really DO for a living is go around and remind people what they DO. It's the best job I can think of. So, how did I DO today? I hope it's clear now what is really your employment! And I hope it's just as clear that the raises involved are significant!!!
